A speech by a 4th grader

by Chel on June 24, 2009

As part of the 4th grade curriculum, my son had to write and present a speech all on his own.  This is what he wrote…

“I am going to tell you guys a humorous story.  But, before I do, I must ask everyone a question.  “Have you ever trapped your parents in your room?”  If you have, raise your hand.  For all the people who raised their hands, I bet you never trapped your parents in your room the way I have.  Oh yeah, I also want to tear how you trapped your parents in your room later.

It was the day before Christmas of 2004 and my parents were in my room to say good night.  I fell asleep in about two minutes after my parents left the room.  But, in the middle of the night I always get a drink of water, have a midnight snack and I would always go in my mom and dad’s room and play with my dad’s electric guitar, jump on their bed until I got sick and watch “The Wiggles”, ” Barney” and “Spongebob Squarepants”.  My parents got tired of that very fast so they switched my door knob around and locked the door from the outside  every day before I went to bed.  I did not like this so this is what I did.  My paretns were in my room to say goodnight, but I was in the bathroom.  When I was done, I ran out, slammed my bedroom door and locked it!  Then I did all the things I always do at midnight.  I eventually fell asleep.  In the meantime, my parents were trying to think of an idea.  One of their ideas was to go out the window.  But, they couldn’t unlock the lock on window.  They were stuck in my room for 12 hours!  They finally got out by finding the key by the window.  When they got out they ran into their room and discovered that their bed was covered in pee.  Of course they didn’t ground me.  I was only three years old!  But, if they did, my revenge would have been a whole other story…”
