He Remembers Her…

My husband’s Grandma Katie passed away on April 25, 2011.  He was asked to speak at her funeral and this is what he wrote.  I thought it was so sweet, that I just had to share!
I remember the times when I could walk to her home and visit with her at any time.
I remember the times when she sat with me in church.
I remember the times when she would sit in her rocking chair reading her bible and so carefully draw that special symbol by the chapter she just read.
I remember the times when she consoled me after I got hurt.
I remember the times when she sang Surely Goodness and Mercy to me at bedtime.
I remember the times when I disobeyed her and she disciplined me.
I remember the times when I scared her just to get a rise out of her voice. This I thought was funny as a child!
I remember the times when she cared for me after my house fire.
I remember the times when she would sing a tune while canning vegetables all day long in the kitchen.
I remember the times she taught my two boys how to blow soap bubbles.
I remember the times when I would get a Birthday Card with a special note signed Grandma Katie.
I remember the time I played What A Friend I Have In Jesus on my trumpet for her in her living room.
Most importantly, I remember the times when she would remind me that Jesus would some day return and I needed to be ready.
This, is, “My Grandma Katie” that I remember.
